Description of a Personal Experience Essay Example for Free

Description of a Personal Experience Essay It happened on one Saturday evening. My mother and I went shopping to buy a gift for my father. After much thought my mother decided to buy a gold ring. We went to a goldsmith’s shop. The sales assistant showed us a lot of gold rings in various designs. My mother was enchanted by a ring with a sparkling diamond on it. As we were admiring the ring, four men wearing ski-mask rushed into the shop. They ordered all the people to stand up against the wall with their hands raised above their heads. The four robbers were armed with guns. They were dressed in black and wore gloves on both hands. One of the men placed a brief case on the counter and ordered one of the sales assistants to empty the trays of jewelleries into the briefcase. The sales assistant was shaking with fear, and quickly started to do what he was ordered to do. I noticed that the burglar alarm was not far from where I was standing. I slowly moved towards the alarm, and tried to reach it without being noticed. After much difficulty I managed to get close to the alarm. I cautiously lifted my right leg and pressed the button. The alarm started to ring loudly. The robbers panicked, they grabbed the briefcase and rushed to a waiting car and drove away. I rushed out of the shop to see the number of the car and quickly memorized the number of the getaway car. A few minutes later the police arrived. I told them the number of the robbers’ car. They immediately informed headquarters to put up road blocks. Before letting us go, they asked us some of the questions about the incident of robbery. Photographers also took photos of the scene of the robbery to be the evidence of the incident. Next day my father read in the newspapers that the robbers were caught and the stolen goods recovered. I felt very happy when heard this new from my father. This incident really an unforgettable experience for me and I thought that I will never forget about that shop. From this incident also, I realised that we should be alert and careful when we went outside as dangers was not predictable.

Imagery of Snakes in Macbeth Essay examples -- European Literature

In the biblical book of Genesis, Eve is tempted by a serpent to commit an ungodly act of eating a forbidden fruit. As a result of the snake's temptation, Eve eats the fruit, resulting in the presence of worldwide sin and the downfall of perfection. From this story of Adam and Eve, the figure of the snake has become generally associated with temptation, evil, and cynicism. William Shakespeare employs this symbolic imagery of snakes in Macbeth, to enhance the story of the rise and fall of Macbeth's power. For poetic and playwright purposes, Shakespeare uses serpentine imagery to reveal the malevolence of characters, and portray the threatening position of the throne, all while provoking a heightened emotion of fear and tragedy from the audience. The first image of the snake is revealed during the initial arrival of evil. In act one, scene five, Lady Macbeth cries out for evil to fulfill her, so that she can posses the power to commit acts of treason. She describes this process as "unsexing" herself. "Come to my woman's breasts and take my milk for gall, you murd'ring ministers" (1.5.48-49). In ancient history it was believed that the venom of serpents was produced from their gall1. The process of "unsexing" herself could, as a result, be perceived as a metaphorical transformation into a snakelike creature. The "unsexing" process is an important part of the evil and complexity that Shakespeare was attempting to develop throughout the story, in order to invoke emotion from the audience. This "unsexing" process not only brings about a theme of witchcraft, but it also introduces a complex situation that the character must face: whether or not to give up good and loyalty for personal ambition. This decision is one that p... ...ke." The imagery of snakes throughout the story of Macbeth contributes to the mood and poetic prose of Shakespeare. Yet more importantly, the snake is a symbolic figure for malevolence and treachery. Shakespeare uses the "snake" to enhance the quality of his characters, and provide insight into their malevolence. The serpentine image also provokes emotion. As the story of Macbeth is a tragedy, the snake images provide a dark contrasting mood to the play, designed to heighten the sense of fear from the audience. People are generally afraid snakes, and Shakespeare uses this object as a tool to relate certain fears of the characters to the audience. Shakespeare is able to develop his characters while capturing the emotion of his audience all by his use of serpentine imagery. Works cited 1. Oxford English Dictionary. Search: gall.

House of Payne

SM Family Television Review The comedy show that my family and I enjoy watching is House of Payne, which airs on TBS every Friday at 8pm. â€Å"The Paynes are three generations living under one roof. The story begins when CJ and his family move into the house of his aunt and uncle, a fact that no one is really happy about. CJ has two children, and his aunt and uncle have very different ideas about raising kids. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the Paynes†. (http://www. tbs. com/stories/story/0,, 107846,00. html). The show is based off real life issues that everyday families experience such as, drug addiction, teen pregnancy, sex, marriage, morals and values, and most of all trust. As, a 23 year old, mother, student, wife, daughter etc, I was able to quickly relate to a few things in the show. This family did impact my life on what family really was because, I always have been the one to just think of my immediate (Mom, Dad, Brothers, Grandma) when I heard the word family. Now, that things have been introduced to me from different perspective, I am now able to fully understand what family is all about. I realize that when I have no one else to count on, that my family is the last hope I have, and also understand that sometimes I may have disagreements with relatives, but its ok because as long as there is communication, nothing is to hard to overcome, All of these things are key points that House of Payne focus on. After watching this show consistently, it has had a very positive impact on me, my family, my marriage and my ability to raise my children at such a young age. Although, these actors, and actresses are acting, they are real people and majority are related, such as the main characters, Cassi and Lavan Davis, who are husband and wife in real life. I enjoy watch the way the reveal each message because they all have a valuable lesson that I learn. This television series is a Christian based show, so I think that is the reason I enjoy watching it so much. It is interesting because some days, I may feel at my worst and watching this show can easily be a inspiration to me. Expressing my feelings and saying how I felt have, also been another issue I’ve had problems with, and it also have taught me this as well. I believe that even a non-believer would enjoy watching this show because again, it’s real people, and they to know what it’s like to face certain situations. I feel that I can somewhat relate to this show because again, I am a young mother, married with children, living day by day , focusing on doing the right thing, despite what I see and hear around me. And sometimes, whether you’re old or young, this can be a challenge. House of Payne have messages for all ages, and they are very powerful messages!

Death Of Mrs. Joe - 759 Words

Death in Great Expectations was a huge topic and had a major impact on all the characters especially Pip, Mr. Joe, Biddy, Orlick, and Mr. Pumblechook. The death I will be focusing on in this paper is the tragic death of Mrs. Joe Gargary. Mrs. Joe goes by that name because she, in a way, takes on the manlier role causing a gender reversal. Each of these characters had their own unique relationship with Mrs. Joe, good or bad. Pip had one of the closest relationships with Mrs. Joe because she raised Pip, even though she was his sister. Mrs. Joe took on the mother role, raising him by hand because Pip had no one else there for him. Mr. Joe, on the other hand, was Mrs. Joe s Husband. Mrs. Joe would always be short tempered with not just him but everyone that tried to approach her, or help her. Biddy had an interesting relationship with Mrs. Joe. She was Mrs. Joe’s caretaker for a while after the attack and developed a relationship with her. Mr. Pumblechook is the uncle of Mr. Joe s uncle and Pip s uncle in law who is considered to be a little arrogant by most people. Mrs. Joe, on the other hand, thinks of him as one of her best friends. The characters mentioned all had good relationships with Mrs. Joe, but that is not the case for Orlick. First of all, Orlick and Mr. Joe always would argue and fight, which was not good for Orlick’s and Mrs. Joe’s relationship. Orlick ended up hating her temper and her attitude, so eventually he confessed to the killing of Mrs.Show MoreRelatedComparison of Passages from Great Expectations and Madame Bovary1110 Words   |  5 Pages The two passages, taken from early sections of Great Expectations and Madame Bovary, deal predominantly with the subject of death and the spectrum of approaches applied by their characters to deal with such circumstances. Role-Play Script free essay sample

Tan Jun Hua as Tan Chong Hui Ying as Chong Gan Zi Qing as Gan Wendy Hing Su Yee as Wendy Tan-Good morning everyone. Thank you for attending the meeting. We are here to discuss what are the problems happens to the product Natural that make the sales drop continuously and we are going to find out the solution for it. What do you guys think about this? Wendy-I think one of the problems is the way of promotion. Through interviewing people on the street, we find out that most of the people don’t know about our product. I think the advertisement we make for Natural is not sufficient because we only make advertisement through health care magazines and radio. Gan-I agree to what Wendy said. I also think that the range of places that we sell our product is too small. This causes a problem to our customer. They have to go to particular shop to get the product which is not convenience. We will write a custom essay sample on Role-Play Script or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Tan-I agree with both of you. Let’s find out the solution to solve the problem. Do any of you have any suggestion? Chong-About the way of promotion, we can make the advertisement through more method like television advertisement, newspaper and flyers. By these, more people will be aware of our product. Gan-But I believe that, people nowadays spend most of their time sitting in front of the computer surfing internet. I think that we can use this opportunity to do more advertisement on the internet website such as Facebook, Yahoo or even Google. Tan -I think that is a good idea. I recently found that more and more business does their advertisement on the public transport. This is an interesting way of advertisement. Maybe we should try it too. What do you think about this, Wendy? Wendy-Yes, it is a very good way to advertise our product because public transports have the mobility so it will be just like a moving flyer. More and more people will get to know our product as it travel to different places. Tan-Thanks Wendy. So let’s move forward to the next topic. Where do you think we can sell our product at so that people will feel more convenience to buy it? Chong-In my opinion, we should sell our product in supermarkets like Giant and Jusco. Nowadays most of the people like to buy their daily necessities at supermarket because at the supermarket, people can find various types of brands and product easily. Gan-I agree with Chong’s opinion. It is very important to sell our product in places where people go the most. By the way, we should also sell our product in mini market and convenience to allow people buy our product in different place but not only at the supermarket. Chong-That is a nice idea too. That would solve the problem of place. Do we have any other more factors which affect the sale of our product? Wendy-I think there are some problems on our product packaging. Through the interview, we find out that people claims that the size of the product is too big and there is only one size available which is 900ml. They wish to have smaller size of the product so they can try out our product without worries. Tan-There is also people who complained that there is only one fragrance available for this brand. They wish there is more choice for them. Gan-I think we should produce Natural in different sizes like 500ml, 900ml and 1200ml. Small size of Natural will also allow people to easily put it in their luggage while traveling. We should also release a refill pack for people to refill it. Wendy-About the fragrance I think we can add more fragrance like milk, mints, green tea, roses and lavender. By this people can have more choice while buying our product. Chong-These would be a great idea. This will attract more people’s attention towards our product and increase the total sale of Natural. Tan-What about the price of the product? Through the interview, most of the people claims that Natural is too expensive. Investigations show that the normal price for shower gel is about RM10. RM20 for 900ml size is too expensive. Wendy-Maybe we can reduce the price to RM15. As for 500ml and 1200ml, I think the price should be RM8 and RM18 respectively. Chong-That’s great! It will be reasonable enough for people to buy our product. Tan-So in conclusion, we should do more advertising on the media, internet and public transport. Other than that, we should increase the range of places we put our product at. Third, we should also increase the choice of sizes we have in order to fulfill our customer needs. Lastly, the price of our product should also be reconsidering and should be reasonable enough for our customer. I think the meeting should come to an end. Do you all agree to the discussion? If there is no objection the meeting should be end. Gan-Yes. We totally agree to the conclusion. Tan-So that is the end. Meeting is dismisses. Thank you for all the valuable advises and suggestion.
